This was in response to a fair event held in Lichefield CT (great name, eh?) The Carnival of Souls module that we ran was great! ---------------------------------------------------------- To the Duchess Mara This letter is to inform you of our extreme displeasure with our experiences with one of your subjects, Sir Hironemous Stone. In the fall, myself and Mr. Clown came to your town to perform for your citizens. Our act was received extremely poorly. Necromancy was used during the performance by Mr. Clown. This being illegal, he was arrested and held for two days before a public execution. I was also arrested and executed, under the shakey pretence of assault upon a goblin that was in our employ. May I remind the attendants of your legal system that battery is the illegal injuring of another person, not assault. I contest that the goblin that we hired willingly submitted to our "attacks" in exchange for payment. Also, it is not a crime in this Duchy to kill a goblin. I note here that there was no mention of either of us being banished from the Duchy of Ashbury. On the morning of Saturday April 9, 594 we entered the Ashbury fairgrounds. We were immediatly met with what can only be described as a mob, headed by Sir Hironimous Stone. He ordered us physically detained and searched. I informed him that we were diplomats of the Nimani Kingdom and showed him our papers, verifying the fact that both I and Mr. Clown are a Lords under xxxxx xxxxx. He scoffed at the papers, continuing the search of our persons. We did not resist except where he ordered the confiscation of our legal possessions. As an added insult, he crumpled our traveling papers and discarded them. In spite of this insult to our honor and kingdom, we offered to the duchy two slaves which we knew had at one time been citizens of Ashbury. Let it be known that we purchased them legally from a vendor in Niman for a substancial price with the intention of freeing them on Duchess Mara's soil, which we did. Our act of good will fell on deaf ears. We were ordered to leave Ashbury immediatly, without any of our personal possesions. It was learned later that the men were under direct orders from Sir Stone to knock us unconcious at the town border and search us more thorouly. Despite all of these ignoble actions on Sir Stone's part, Mr. Clown and I re-entered the city later that day to invite townsfolk to our own carnival. We were thankfully not harrassed by Sir Stone any further. The actions and disrespects performed by Sir Stone are treasonous. By his actions and orders, he has risked the discontented peace that our two Kingdoms have preserved over the years.
